The local unit of OECTA proudly represents all teachers within the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. This donation goes directly to a charity that supports students and their families facing urgent financial need within our school communities.
"Every day, OECTA teachers witness firsthand the incredible impact the Foundation has on students and families across our communities," says Dan Graham, President of OECTA. "The support provided helps remove barriers to learning, allowing students to focus, thrive, and reach their full potential. OECTA and its teachers are proud to support the Foundation and the important work it does for students and their families."
As part of their charitable works within the community each year, OECTA selected ALCE Foundation as a recipient this year.
For Leila Goyer, Chair of the ALCE Foundation, the donation reflects something deeper than the number on the cheque.
"OECTA's generosity speaks to who our teachers are and what they see every day in their classrooms," Leila says. "This contribution helps us aid families during some of their hardest moments. OECTA's support doesn't stop there. They've also registered five teams to golf and purchased two sponsorships for the 27th Annual ALCE Foundation Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 13, continuing to show up for our students in every way they can. We're so grateful."
This is the largest donation the Foundation has received in six years, not including events planned in direct support of the Foundation.
